Color Script

Color script is a continuation of some scenes showing the colours that are going to be used. Explaining with pictures and colours the mood of the animation. Also this colour script is really useful for all of the people that are working on the creation of the animation so they would know what colours they should use and also to use the same colours not every time using different colours. Creating this script shows you how your animation would eventually look like and not ending up with a colourful animation making no sense, knowing that colour is one of the most important things for an animation.

Black and white

Some say that black is not a colour and white is. Some say that it's the opposite. For some reason for me neither of those two I can say it's an actual colour. When I see them it's like something is missing, is missing a colour. That doesn't mean that i don't like black or white. The combination of those too its amazing.
When I watch some black and white movies or any random pictures in the web it gets my attention and I find them really interesting. It's really different from what I am used to see now a days. The contrast of those two lets say colours is really powerful. When you turn a colourful picture into black and white you can see how the shades looking so pretty. Also you can realise how many shades are in a picture. Some times the absence of colour using just black and white is much more interesting.

Orange/Blue Contrast in Movies and Games

During one of the lecture with Mrs Michaela she mentioned how the contrast of orange and blue is over used in the movie and game industry and that stack into my head and I wanted to search more on that and see how much and why it is used. Actually it's everywhere. You can see it most of the film posters and also in a lot of games. Some examples in movie posters are GIJOE, Night at the museum, Bourne Identity, Dragonball evolution, Spiderman, Transformers and so on. Some games are commander, Halo wars, Tron, etc.
The reason this combination is used is because when you put together two contrasting colours they come out looking really nice and it catches your eye.  But the over use of those two colours together it has become really boring.
Hopefully they will realise that and start working and using different colours.

God of War

God of War is a game that i really love playing. It's about a man that is fighting with the gods and has to go through a long series of tests and trials to achieve goals.
This game is not only amazing just to play it but also the colours are amazing as well. All the shades and tints are so amazingly combined. I noticed that red is used a lot in this game and why is that. As we all might know red is the colour that expresses passion, anger, blood, war and mostly violence and this game is all about Kratos (mane character of the game) fighting the gods and a lot of other creatures.  In the first picture the red tattoos and bright yellow swords are making him to stand out and be the focal point. In the 2nd picture the focal point is again Kratos and one of the gods on the horse, also for the background on that picture they used a lot of shades of green with some bright shaded white spots just show you a hint of sky and to understand what exactly is back there.

Maya the bee

Maya the bee is an animation that I used to watch when I was a kid. It's about a bee that she is has lot of friends and in every episodes she manage she or her friends to get in trouble.
It's really cute to watching this little insects trying to survive and rescue their friends.
While I was watching it I noticed that the colours they mostly use for this animation are tints.  When they are using shades you can notice a combination of tints and shades, it starts with a tint and gradually it becomes a shade. By this type of colour management it makes the animation look more happy so young children can watch it without getting the dark and unpleasant feeling that the shades sometimes express.

Tints and Shades

I was reading the lecture notes and I was thinking of were are those colours, tints and shades are used. And then I thought to my self everywhere. The most common place that you are going to see the combination of those colours are not only in nature but in the movies as well. Using the tints and shades they are setting the mood for the to viewer, they are leading our feeling and thoughts go in the direction they want to express. For instance in the movie Lord Of The Rings there is a scene where everything is bright (used tints), by that it gives you a positive feeling, everything is fine and peaceful. On the other hand there is another scene full of shades expressing a bad feeling, it makes you expect that something bad is going to happen. Colour is very important when you are creating a scene because with the wrong tints and shades you might give the opposite feeling than the one you want.

The Old Man and The Sea

While I was watching the short film animation "The Old Man and The Sea" I was amazed by the combination of colours they used and how the specific colour palette match the mood of the film. Also it gives you the exact feeling they want to show. It is so amazing and realistic looking that every time that I watch that animation I can't take my eyes away. It mostly uses blues, greens, dark and bright combinations of those colours. Especially at the part were the old man is all alone in the sea it gives me the cold and unwelcomeing feeling. And finally at the end when he managed to catch the big fish everything turns so peaceful. All the colours are warm and calming.

Seasons

Holi festival is a religious festival that takes place in India and Nepal and it's celebrated by Hindus. Some they refer to it as the colour festival. They celebrate the beginning of a new season, spring. During the festival people throw coloured powder to each other.
While I was reading these it came to me how different colour wise are all the different seasons. How amazing nature is and how you can see each colour and his secondary hues in each season. When you think of winter it comes to mind blue, white, grey, dark colours. When you think of autumn you think of brown, dark green colours, dark re and the secondary hues. When you think of summer yellow and light blue comes to mind and finally when you think of Spring all the bright and warm colours come up.

Purple

I was thinking what should I write about colour and it came to me a project that I did about colour purple. Some interesting facts about purple it is the colour of royalty and also it express luxury, wealth and sophistication. Some say it's a feminine and romantic colour, on the other hand some say it's a cold colour and because you can't find it so often in nature it's artificial. Is the color of good judgment. Also is the color of people seeking spiritual fulfillment. It is said if you surround yourself with purple you will have peace of mind. Purple is a good color to use in meditation.
Another interesting fact about purple is that it's the colour of the Crown chakra, known as Sahasrara. And it's located at the top of the head which is linked to the nervous system, the brain and it helps you generate pure thoughts.
